CCD technology is better and produces sharper resolution color reproductions. E.g. mobile phones are using CMOS sensors, while an expensive digital camera uses CCD sensors. (Color CMOS sensors requires minimum 3.0lux while CCD sensors requires just 0.5lux) 3.6mm lens vs. 6mm lens - Common camera (cheaper) uses 6mm lens. A 3.6mm lens provides a much wider view for better coverage of surveillance area. 1/3 vs. 1/4 CCD sensors - 1/3 CCD sensors are able to reproduce a wider and larger area coverage due to the larger sensor. It is also more expensive. SONY vs. Sharp CCD - In surveillance equipments, these two branded CCD sensors are the most commonly used in the market. SONY branded CCD had been shown to provide sharper image resolution, better performance in low light conditions. SONY branded sensors is also more expensive. LED Diodes - LED diodes will project IR rays and these IR is detectable by the camera sensors. Some manufacturers supply LED Diodes that is invisible to naked eyes, while some may show tinge of red. Typically, the more powerful the diodes, the wider the distance of visibility in dark conditions. IR diodes is most very effective when used by black/white cameras as these cameras required low lighting conditions, and is highly recommended for surveillance activities even when the lights are switched off. Installed Distance - Using good quality cables, sufficient DC power supply will ensure stable image quality. Otherwise, a video repeater may be used at various intervals of the cable points. Camera Housings - Most indoor camera housings are using a dome or easy-install 360degree rotational camera. For outdoor use, weather-proof cameras are recommended. No matter what type of camera housing is used, the camera specifications provided in Qn.1 to Qn.4 will not affect the camera performance. PTZ enabled housing can also be considered for professional use. Remote Monitoring - Remote Monitoring with internet browser (Microsoft IE) is possible with the right DVR (HDD stand-alone) or PC DVR. Internet Broadband and Static IP address is required here. It is also possible with a Dynamic IP address but user will require the necessary IT skills with DNS Servers. Weatherproof (IP66 rating) - Not to be confused with waterproof. Weatherproof simply means able to withstand all kinds of weather incl. temperature,rain and humidity changes. Waterproof camera will refer to one that can be continuously be immerged underwater. Waterproof cameras must be IP68 rated. Most outdoor camera are weatherproof. Rolling images - It is resulted from wrong image display frequency. Usually it is due to the wrong selection of the sytem type. e.g. NTSC cameras used in a PAL DVR system, or when mixed systems of PAL and NTSC cameras are used together. It could be also due to interference from nearby electrical items, unsteady DC power supply, or insufficient cable current due to non-RG59 co-axial cable used. Foggy / Blur image - First, check the focus of the lens. Next, check if there is a layer of moisture/ film / stains formed internally on the glass. This layer can form when the camera becomes heated up for extended period of time. It can be due to environmental temperature and humidity effect, chemical fumes from the dye and solvent used in the PCB board, semiconductor encapsulation etc. To clean it, simply remove the camera housing cap. Use denatured alcohol to clean the glass surface. Heat up the camera by turning it on for a few minutes and tighten back the cap. Usually, ths is a once-off procedure and will not happen again. A continuous operational camera is always warm and this will prevent any moisture built-up in the internal PCB or components. Image is sharp, but quality is poor / unstable - Check if you have sufficient lighting. Readjust the viewing angle if too near to a intense bright light. Test the camera connected directly to a TV using short cable to confirm if it is a camera problem or other factors such as DVR software, hardware, cable quality. If multiple cameras are connected to the serial port of a DVR through multiple BNC input (flexible wire), cover/ insulate the BNC connections such that the metal ends do not touch each other to prevent signals contamination. eBay POLICY Very Simple Process.
